Technical Committee for Standardization of Industrial Products established at the Ministry of Trade and Industry. |

Polish National Electrotechnical Committee becomes IECmember. |

Polish Committee for Standardization (P.K.N.) established;Polish Standard (PN) introduced as an official document for voluntary use. |

First PN published. |

Polish Committee for Standardization (PKN) reinstated after the war. |

1947 |
PKN becomes the charter member of ISO. |

1949 |
The Law on Polish Committee for Standardization introduces mandatory standards. |

On the strength of a decree PKN becomes the central state administration body responsible for standardization. |

1961 |
The Standardization Law confirms PKN status as a central state administration body. |
|
1970 |
PKN begins the co-operation with UN/ECE. |
|
1972 |
PKN and Central Office of Measures merge together into the Polish Committee for Standardization and Measures (PKNiM). |

1979 |
The Law on Quality of Products and Services establishes the Polish Committee for Standardization, Measures and Quality Control (PKNMiJ). |

1991 |
PKNMiJ becomes an Affiliate of CEN and CENELEC. |

1992 |
First two PN-EN approved. |

On the strength of Standardization Law of 3.04.1993, PKNMiJ is dissolved and PKN (Polish Committee for Standardization) reinstated. The law introduces the modern system of standardization in Poland, based on the European one, including the voluntary status of standards. |

PKN signs Memorandum of Understanding with ETSI. |

1995 |
PKN introduces voluntary mark of conformity with Polish Standards. |
|
1996 |
National enquiry point of WTO/TBT established at PKN Office. |
|
1997 |
Polish Standards database included in the PERINORM system. |
|
2002 |
New Standardization Law of 12.09.2002 passed. PKN applies for full membership in CEN and CENELEC. |
|
2003 |
New Standardization Law in force - new status of PKN - standardization system fully compatible with the European one. New MoU with ETSI signed. |
|
2004 |
PKN becomes a Member of CEN and CENELEC on January 1. |
